Who writes V Vane: Tessa Marlow, editor, and the two habits — measuring twice and taking a second look — that every page here is built on.
Last updated October 2026
V Vane is a single-editor site. Every article, comparison table and size note on it is written and checked by the person below. There is no content desk, no syndication, and no freelance pool to lose accountability in.
Tessa Marlow, Editor
Writes about garment construction, leather goods and footwear specs. Started in retail floor management before moving to editorial research. The move from the stockroom to the spec sheet changed how the work is done, not the habit behind it: on the retail floor the question was always "what does the tag actually say?" — and it still is.
The working rule is numbers first, opinions second. Adjectives are cheap and untestable; a sleeve length, a strap drop or a micron thickness can be checked. So every buying decision on this site is reduced to two or three measurable numbers, and the prose is written around them, not instead of them.
Measure Twice: how the site measures
Every buying guide follows the same structure: the three numbers you need for that category, the ways those numbers are usually measured wrong, and how to read the seller's spec sheet once you have them. Measure yourself once, carefully, and the whole category opens up. Measure badly and no size chart will save you.
The method is deliberately low-tech: a soft tape, a flat surface and a piece of paper. Garment measurements are taken flat and doubled unless the listing states otherwise. Shoe measurements are taken standing, in millimetres, because centimetre rounding hides exactly the half-size that matters. Where a listing refuses to publish a measurement, that refusal is reported as a fact about the listing.
Second Look: how the site re-checks
Fashion runs on repeated claims: merino is always cooler than cotton, full-grain leather always outlasts synthetics, a higher price means a better fit. A Second Look piece takes one of those claims and re-checks it against published specifications and named third-party measurements. When the numbers hold up, the piece says so. When they do not, the piece shows its work.
The same discipline applies over time. Each page carries the date it was last revised, and a category is re-checked when a listed product changes materially — a discontinued width, a reformulated material, a size chart that quietly moved. Corrections are made on the page itself. Write to contact@voguevane.com if you find one.
